1987 SCHOOL LEAVERS

The last 20 years

My Story So Far

ALISON FITZGERALD

After leaving High School I really just wanted to earn some money, I worked at Venture for a year then went to Tech and did a course for a year to then got into the retail industry and worked at Minx Boutique for just over 3 years. I then worked at Priceline for just under 2 years. I then worked at Mitre 10 at Kingston for 5 years, up to now I had not had any luck in the relationship department and this situation continued for quite sometime, I always seemed to get myself mixed up with losers.I bought a house with my sister Sal in 1998. I then in 2000 worked with my eldest sister "Sue" at Timber Wholesale for 18 months . In 2001 I decided to go and work in the mines in Western Australia. So I arrived in W.A in 2002, after 6 months I realised it was not long enough time to get myself into the mines so I then decided to stay 12 months, 12 months came and I decided that I loved W.A so much I wanted to stay. I still had not been able to get into the mines but realise that it just wasn't meant to happen. I moved a few times in the first two years around the metro area. I then purchased a house out near the swan valley " wine country". Not long after this I meet my partner Serge. In 2006 I sold my house and moved 45min south of the city to Waikiki to be closer to Serge, we plan to move in together in the next 6 months. I have never been married and don't have any children and dont plan on having any. I have worked at numerous places since living in W.A, I now work at ASC (Australian Submarine Corporation) and so far I am enjoying the position as supply officer. Since living here I get back to Tassie quite regularly and my family visit me often. I am really enjoying organising the up coming 25th reunion, it's been so exciting when I have managed to contact another person. 04/08

I hope to contact everyone and hope that everyone makes the effort to come to the reunion.

Hi everyone,

Many of you dont know that I was spent my teenage years in foster care which was quite difficult at times.  I left Geilston Bay High School 8 weeks before the end of year 10 due to the fact that i had to move foster homes and it was upsetting for me.  But I have almost 4 great years with some really great people from the school. After I left high school I went to The Hobart College for a year then got a job at Kmart at Eastlands. I did everything backwards but for people who know me know that I dont always do what im told or do things the hard way. I became a young mum at the age of 18 and then though it would be smart to have another child at 19. Since leaving school my 2 boys and I went to NSW to live where I had many jobs in retails, pubs and clubs until I settle down and got married and moved to Brisbane.  I eventually fell into nursing while working in a nursing home as AIN (Assistant in Nursing) then went onto further study to become an Aged Care Nurse and I love the job and I have being doing it ever since.  In 2001 my marriage fell apart after having 2 more kiddies, thats right I a 4 beautiful kids.  My sons are Matthew 19yrs, Andrew 18yrs, My daughter are Alicia 12yrs and my baby Natasha 10yrs.  In 2002 I finally came out to my family and told them that I was in a relationship and had been for the past 9 months with a girl, that I was gay.  This was nothing knew to my family as i came out when I was 16 but thats a long story.  My family finally accepted me for who I am and now it is 2009 and I have been with my gorgeous girlfriend for almost 7 years (she is my 5th kid LOL). I am still nursing, my partner is a logistic manager for Hills Industries my eldest son is a 1st year App butcher and my 2nd eldest is lapping it up on the gold coast, my partner and i currently take in foster children from various backgrounds for respite care and school holidays and emergency care and we really enjoy helping families out.  I am into boxing at the moment and I love gets all my anger out.  My partner and I are into softball Im assistant coach/manager of senior women's and I coach T-Ballers (ages 4-10).  My parnter and I leave in sunny Brisbane with my two girls, the boys went flating Ya!Ya!. But still bring their dirty washing home LOL. I don't really know what else to say but Im a tomboy, love motor bikes, im very independent person and do everything myself.  I am a happy, out going, down to earth person that adores her family and close friends and loves to have a good laugh.Well guys hope you enjoyed my story and I look forward to seeing you all at the GBHS Reunion BUGGER I need to go on a diet now and what do I wear!!!!

Cheers
